Can the employer hold visa cancellation and passport to see the new employee's visa?
Dear Lawyer,
I'm canceling my job visa with my employer to shift to a new job. They provided me with the cancellation paper.
But they have asked to provide my new visa status change copy in order to release my passport, gratuity, leave salary and insurance continuity papers... etc. Is this legal??
Can you advise me on the same?

يرجى ملاحظة أن صاحب العمل لا يحق له الاحتفاظ بجواز سفرك بغض النظر عن السبب.
يرجى تقديم شكوى عاجلة إلى محاكم دبي للحصول على حكم لصالحك يمكنك بموجبه استرداد جواز سفرك من صاحب العمل.
علاوة على ذلك، فيما يتعلق بالمستحقات الأخرى، يرجى تقديم شكوى عمالية إلى وزارة العمل إذا كانت الشركة تابعة للبر الرئيسي أو إلى سلطة المنطقة الحرة المناسبة.
