Renewal of expired car registration

My car registration expired more than 5 months ago. Can I drive my car to the RTA technical checkup centre in order to renew the registration? I've heard that if I am stopped by a police patrol on my way to the RTA, I will be fined and my car will be impounded. Is that true?

Yes, that is true, if the police patrol caught you at any time driving the vehicle, you will be fined and the car will be impounded until you pay the all the fines, registration renewal, and the insurance (if it is expired as well). I suggest you go to the nearest technical center for the car checkup and avoid speeding or any kind of driving that might make the police stop you for any reason. Drive Safely :)
