How to act against the accumulation of credit card debts
Hi.
I am seeking advice about outstanding credit card payments with various banks in the UAE, although I have done a lot of minimum payments to these cards.
Now, I have come back to my home country and the outstanding amounts have been increasing. I suppose there are a case and travel ban against me.
Please advise on what I should do?

Bank to file case:
The bank has to file a case irrespective whether the borrower is in the country or outside, or whether the borrower has a job or not. If the bank does not file the case for accounting purpose, it will not be treated as bad debts.
With various treaties in place, local UAE banks have the right to enforce a UAE judgment in other signatory countries i.e. you can be arrested for non-payment even in your home country (if applicable).
It would be advisable to negotiate with your bank in writing to waive the interest and pay the debts in instalments.
With best regards,
Mrs. Khan
