Refusal of a physiotherapist to treat a patient in the presence of the spouse
Does an opposite gender physiotherapist have the right to refuse treatment for the patient in the presence of the spouse?
Is there any hospital policy that states that the patient has to be alone with the physiotherapist for the treatment to be carried on?
Dear Questioner,
Many medical facilities have policies against the presence of any person who is not a medical practitioner during any course of medical operations. This is a general professional knows procedure.
Medical practitioners have great liability towards the patients and any distraction could cause the patients severe injuries and in some cases, it can cost the practitioner's license. They are in general free to decide the best suitable atmosphere to work in. Nothing is against the law in such case.
